In 2009, at the age of 43, I started running. I fell into running somewhat accidentally. You can read about how in HOW I STARTED RUNNING. Regardless of how I became a runner, running has become one of the best things that could have happened to me. I absolutely love it and am totally addicted! I don’t ever want to stop!
The San Francisco Bay Area in California is where I have called home for just about my entire life. It is a beautiful area and offers everything a runner could want: comfortable temperatures, gorgeous views, scenic paths and numerous trails.
I have always been athletic. As a teenager I was a competitive singles figure skater for about four years. During those four years I always thought I would go on to skate in the professional shows, but goals change and I ended up quitting just before high school ended. At age thirty I got back into the competitive skating world with a team of women on an adult synchronized skating team. I did this for 10 years and we competed around the U.S. twice a year. While on the team we achieved a national ranking of second place for our adult division. Skating on a team was a very rewarding experience.
I ran for a full year and a half (mostly on my treadmill) before I registered for my first race, a 10K. I immediately got the ‘bug’ for racing.
I am incredibly passionate about running, and I love to write. My greatest desire with this blog is to inspire my readers with my sometimes serious, sometimes goofy ramblings and get you out there running.
